This is an obsession i have since ever: redesigning the way i wanted the covers of my favourite records. This series will be no more than that, my music revisited in just an aesthetic exercise combining images and typography.
All the photographies are mine.

CD collection

It's a composite image (made of two original photos - I couldn't get far enough away for one!) of a whole bunch of my CDs. I didn't include singles, compilations, or - ahem - copied CDs, or even MP3s! (Seriously - the liner notes on the MP3s are useless...) Also I didn't include some of the albums because I wanted them all to fit in an even grid, as you can see!

...A funky prize to anyone who can spot them all... (and yes, there ARE a few I'm slightly ashamed of in there!)

Also, how about doing this with your collections? I'd love to see em.

Searching for Models

Image by Lady Pain (Marta Manso)

YO NO SOY MODELO.

====================

Life is hard, and the artistic world's competition further more, mainly for an apprentice like I. There are so many artists, so much people who have been born with talent, that it's not enough having certain dowries, some good ideas, or learning desire. That no longer is enough.

In any case, last events have encouraged me to try what I really would like to do, and not to resign myself with the best market. The alternative women are those that interest me, those that I want to capture, to catch his personality to transmit it, its aesthetic to impress, shock the world with Beauty that they don't know yet.

I want to break prejudices, barriers, I want to take photos of a 10 piercings and 10 tatoos girl, and see how people's prejudices mechanism get captivated with the beauty and the magic of the model and the image.

I AM NOT A MODEL. I have never been and I don't think I will never be it (except for special moments). It's curious that I love technology, but a camera intimidates me just as intimidates an answering machine, is cold. For each photo that you see, I have done 500.

But however behind the camera, we get on well. And I want to return to feel all the power in my hands when I am the one that observes from the outside and visualizes the good shoots, when I have in front of me a woman, ready for leaving me getting the best of her, and not to work completely blind as the self-portraits imply.

I know the world, I know the alternative thoughts, the alternative aesthetics, the alternative… personality. I am part of it. And I am not the best way to show it, but I can get it from the girls that have the capacity to do it. I want gothic girls, hippies, dolls with dangerous glance,… it's everything right. Girls who feel smart, and have something to say. Those women that don't need to undress to attract the glances. And I am not speaking of being cute… I'm speaking about being magnetic.

How do I get this onto my iPhone?
There are a number of ways to do this, however I think the easiest and fastest way is to download Flickr’s free app. Within the Flickr app you surf over to my photo feed to view the images (if you make me a contact then I’ll appear in the flickr contact list). When you find one you like, just click the download button and save the image directly to your phone. Quick & Simple!

I don’t have an iPhone. Can I still use it on my phone?
As of this writing this image (960 x 640) should be large enough to be used as wallpaper with the Droid / Android, BlackBerry, Windows 7, and iPhone.

How did you make it?
This background was made using graphic design software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Filter Forge, Genetica, Wacom, Alien Skin, Topaz Labs, as well as several other programs.

The wrappers for Wright's Biscuits have been photographed here by TurnersPhotographic of Newcastle.

Wright’s Biscuits was a well known company in South Shields, South Tyneside. Set up as a maker of biscuits, they started out by supplying their stock to ships in 1790, but after a fall in demand, Wright's turned to making more up-market biscuits. Wright's Biscuit factory closed in 1973.

Turner’s was established in Newcastle upon Tyne in the early 1900s. It was originally a chemists shop but in 1938 become a photographic dealer. Turners went on to become a prominent photographic and video production company in the North East of England. They had 3 shops in Newcastle city centre, in Pink Lane, Blackett Street and Eldon Square. Turner’s photographic business closed in the 1990s.

TALK @ allexperts
en.allexperts.com/q/Doors-Jim-Morrison-443/2009/4/Dance-C...

expert: JayDixon - 4/24/2009
Question
Jim Morrison and the Doors played at the Underground Cavern, on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village, New York, on May 8, 1966. Who shared the bill with the Doors. I maintain it was Bill Meers and the Rockers and the Nifty Nick Band. I've seen some reproduction posters that say it was the Jefferson Airplane. Who actually shared the bill?

Answer
Larry,
Doubt I can help you much on this one as I am unable to source any info on this.
Jefferson Airplane (they toured Europe together)did a heck of a lot of stuff with The Doors and may well have supported at that Underground gig.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Cheers
Jay Dixon
Melbourne Australia

MY OPINION:
Both two versions of the poster are faked (probably by a fanatic 'Rolling Stones' to split up 'the doors'). Until now I discovered four reasons for this truth:
1st: August 4th, 1966 fell on a Thursday, and not on a Friday, as the above poster is stating.
2nd: My french friend 'ship of fools' has the 4th August 1966 in his 'chronologie':
1966: Jeudi 4 Août Concert Whisky a Go Go West Hollywood.
1966, Mon. Aug. 1 - Thu. 4: Whisky A Go Go - the doors, the Rolling Stones & David Crosby.
During this time the Rolling stones are in town for a recording session and stop by to hear The Doors. They are reportedly not very impressed. Also around this time, Jim gets into it with David Crosby who is performing with The Byrds. On the night of Lenny Bruce's death Crosby stops by to hear some music wearing shades throughout the evening. Jim while performing shouts to Crosby that he can't hide behind his sunglasses and an argument ensues. Also performing: Johny Rivers; The Chambers Brothers.
3rd: We didn't start out with such big ideas. We thought we were going to be just another pop group, but then something happened when we recorded 'The End'. We saw that what we were doing was more important than just a hit song. We were writing serious music and performing it in a very dramatic way. 'The End' is like going to see a movie when you already know the plot. It's a timeless piece of material... It was then that we realized we were different from other groups. We were playing music that would last for years, not weeks. JDM
4th: There was never a place called the "Underground Cavern" on Bleecker Street in the Village. I grew up there, around then, and NOPE. Also, had the ROLLING STONES at the height of their popularity played anywhere it would have been an ARENA. Or there would have been a RIOT. angel6356

From the Warholian story

"Fear mongering, simply intensifies the likelihood of violence. If people are made to feel that they are in eminent danger or threatened, there is a fight or flight response. Based on that principle you are guaranteed a percentage of the responses are going to be violent.” says Colla.

Colla wants to be clear, he does not blame Sarah Palin for the Arizona shootings- what he blames is her vitriolic rhetoric that have become her character trademark.

“Whether or not Palin influenced Jared Lee Loughner, is rather beside the point. Her actions and her language have been consistently hyperbolic, manipulative and irresponsible. Palin gives speeches and the crowd tends to react to the tough-talk and rhetoric, so that’s what she continues doing it… That behavior is typical of people who participate in pageantry, but that’s not leadership. In light of the past weeks events it might be a good opportunity to examine what is effective or appropriate rhetoric and what we as a society deem unacceptable.”

My grandmother at the wheel of a 1911 Regal Underslung
photo album
That is definitely my grandmother, Violet Bray Berry, about 1912. The car is obviously about 1911-1912 vintage and has an underslung chassis & suspension, meaning that the frame goes under, rather than over the axles, giving the car a lower center of gravity and a very rakish and sporty look. However, it is not an American Underslung, the most prevalent of the underslungs of the day. After careful study of enlarged views and comparison with other photos I have found, I think it is a much more rare Regal Underslung. The sign in the store window indicates that they are in front of a Stoddard-Dayton dealership, but it definitely isn't a Stoddard Dayton. I don't know the location, but my guess is that it was taken in Berkeley, San Francisco or Santa Rosa, CA or somewhere in that part of the world. I do know that it didn't belong to anyone in my family, but I sure wouldn't mind owning it today!

Meanwhile I think Sodabowski is right, there is no need of the orton effect, there is a possibility that it even spoils the pic.
So I posted the pic again without the Orton-effect.

People are so desperate to get rid of their stuff that they leave family pictures still in the frames.

The first-pass attempt at a string & peg photo frame inspired by something I saw online and done on-the-cheap with a £7 frame from Ikea. Similar to this, except hers looks way more polished: taliachristine.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/once-upon-time.html

The lines are uneven at the moment as they're kept in place by the metal pegs that were supposed to hold the backing board on, turns out they're not regularly spaced so need to get the pliers out and rearrange them.

The B&W photos are some of the first test-prints that we've done with our old-school enlarger (pics elsewhere in my stream).

Michael Schumacher Kart Center 038

Image by Paul D'Ambra - Australia
Leaving Valkenburg I made my way to Nurburg for my visit to Nordschleife. On the way I drove through Kerpen, home of Michael Schumacher, 7 times Formula 1 World Champion.

Quite chuffed, as I made my way through the town I was soon to discover Michael's Kart & Event Center. I was just in time for it to be open, so a quick dash into a race suit & I was on his track, his karts for some great memories.

Nice Picture Collages photos

Some cool picture collages images:

Taking Off 3
picture collages
At Skiathos Airport.

The "Taking Off" Collages record a plane taxiing up the runway at Skiathos Airport, which is right next to a road, turning, and taking off. You might wonder why there seems to be a gap between the two pictures in "Taking Off 3". I foolishly lined myself up right behind the plane (on the other side of a road) to capture the beautiful symmetry of the object. When the pilot put on full thrust I was almost blown off my feet by the hot blast and ended up running with my camera in the opposite direction to the plane! My hat was blown off and landed in the sea. I scrambled back to get the top picture in the collage. I felt a right idiot, I can tell you!

There were 2 young guys and a woman with me and exactly the same thing happened to them. It became apparent that this was not the first time a plane had blown them away like this. At least I was only stupid once!

Sept. 27: Walls

Finally got around to rearranging some of the pictures on my living room walls. I'd gotten some new ones, put up a shelving unit and rearranged the living room, so some of them were in weird spots. The arrangement on the top is over the futon & coffee table/knitting area, the second is over the mat where I stick my shoes, between the TV and my Ikea Rexbo unit.
