This is a side shot of an Intel Pentium II-processor. As you can see, the processor concisted of a number of cards inside the well-designed black plastic casing. The thing was huge and had a fan glued & screwed to it.

Do you remember DOS? You may remember Windows 95, where you had those 1.44 MB diskettes that you had to use to install software - or you had one of those fancy CD-ROM readers. But if we look a bit further back, before 1984, we were only able to store, read and move data between computers utilizing these good old floppy friends. That's where the term "floppy" comes from.
But when we're talking about the 1.44 MB media, we shouldn't be saying "floppy", we should be saying "diskette". It's a very common mistake.
