On June 30th, 2006 I bought a Canon EOS 350D + EF-S 18-55mm (Kit-Lens). Almost one year passed by and today I made my 10.000th picture.

I think Helmut Newton said that the first 10.000 pictures are only for the purpose of training and to get familiar with your equipment. This period is now over and I'm still not sure if I'm familiar with my equipment. I still have to improve my knowledge in making photos and I know what I can improve. The main point is that you have to know your faintness. The only question is how to handle it and how to fix it? And I also don't know if this picture is worthy to represent my work. Hopefully it is!

Some further information about me and my equipment:

In the meantime I replaced the kit-lens with my latest lens - the Sigma 28-70mm which is really a great lens! The picture above has been made with the macro lens.

A few nice love image images I found:

If I Just Lay Here, Would You Lie with Me and Just Forget the World?
love image
Today I worked a lot. I was sad too. I walked into work 10 minutes late, crying. My manager who is sometimes frightening, funny, immature, or a bitch... was actually really nice today. She always goes out and smokes cigerettes so she made me come with her and another girl I've learned to like a lot and I told them all about what was going on. I clocked in 40 minutes late, but I felt a lot better about it after talking with them.

I actually had no idea what I was going to do for today's. First it was just a quick 15 shot shoot with the tears. I took about four with my pillow, then I started editing and I began to see "The Great Wave off Kanagawa" *google image wave* and added that into the photo and here we go... it turns out it works perfectly with this song and my mood of today. Cause all I want is to do this with a certain somebody. 7 days.

We'll do it all
Everything
On our own

We don't need
Anything
Or anyone

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

I don't quite know
How to say
How I feel

Those three words
Are said too much
They're not enough

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

Let's waste time
Chasing cars
Around our heads

I need your grace
To remind me
To find my own

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Forget what we're told
Before we get too old
Show me a garden that's bursting into life

All that I am
All that I ever was
Is here in your perfect eyes, they're all I can see

I don't know where
Confused about how as well
Just know that these things will never change for us at all

If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Today the Rogues are paying tribute to ~cynthiak~. This is a copycat of her Day 171 'Like father, like daughter' shot, itself a copycat of one of her father's photos.

The arrangement of doors and rooms at the end of the hall meant that I had to reverse the position of the clones. And, of course, our house lacks the natural wood look of either of the original pictures. I applied a vintage effect in Picnik to offset this.

Photographed at the Lincoln Home Historic Site "Trunk or Treat" in Springfield, Illinois on October 29, 2010.

****************************************************************************************************

You are invited to stay and browse through my photostream. Here's a quick index to my Flickr site:

Automobile Photographs: This is a very large collection of images whose primary, but not exclusive, focus is on American automotive classics. Images are organized by decade, by manufacturer, and by topics (such as convertibles, station wagons, muscle cars, etc.)

Central Illinois (except Springfield): Central Illinois (except Springfield): Photos relating to the middle section of the "Land of Lincoln" (except for the Capital City of Springfield) may be found in this collection. Every city and town I've photographed is contained within its own set, and rural (as in "counrtyside") photographs are grouped by county.

Springfield, Illinois: All of my photographs of Springfield and the Abraham Lincoln Sites are in this collection. For the City of Springfield, there are separate sets for the Capitol Complex, Downtown (including the Old State Capitol), Neighborhoods, Parks, Illinois State Fairgrounds (and past State Fairs), and more. Photographs of Lincoln sites include the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, Lincoln Home National Historic Site, Lincoln Tomb, and so on. Also in the Lincoln "All About Abe" (Set) are a few Lincoln sites not located in Springfield.

The Illinois State Fair: My collection of photographs of the Illinois State Fair. The fair offers something for everyone. Grab a corn dog and lemon shake-up, and come take a look!

Beyond Central Illinois: Other locales in the United States and Canada including New York, Chicago, San Francisco and Seattle.

In addition to my location-based sets, here are links to some "topical" collections and sets I've put together:

Barbers & Barber Shops: Traditional barbers and barber shops are on the endangered species list. But there are still plenty to be found if you go looking for them.

Almost Everything Else. Check It Out!!!: Included topics range from man's first walk on the moon to small town schools and churches, and from Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers (our favorite breed) to things that are abandoned, neglected, weathered, or rusty.

Toshka Lakes, Egypt (NASA, International Space Station, 06/21/12)
earth image
Image by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center
Toshka Lakes in southern Egypt are featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 31 crew member on the International Space Station. The Toshka Lakes (center) were formed in the Sahara Desert of Egypt by water from the River Nile conveyed from Lake Nasser by a canal to the Toshka Depression. Flooding of the Toshka Depression had created the four main lakes with a maximum surface area in 2002 of approximately 1,450 square kilometers -- around 25.26 billion cubic meters of water. By 2006 the stored water was reduced by 50 per cent and by 2012 shows open water only in the lowest parts of the main western and eastern basins—representing a reduction in surface area to 307 square kilometers -- nearly 80 per cent smaller than the 2002 surface area. Standing water is almost completely absent from the central basin. From space, astronauts documented the first lake -- the easternmost one -- in 1998. The lakes progressively grew in depressions to the west, the westernmost filling between 2000 and 2001. This image shows lines of center-point agricultural fields near the east-basin lake nearest Lake Nasser. Sunglint on the western lake makes the water surface appear both light and dark, depending on which parts of the surface were ruffled by the wind at the moment the image was taken.

Etosha Pan, Namibia (NASA, International Space Station, 12/30/11)
earth image
Image by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center
The Etosha Pan in Namibia is featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 30 crew member on the International Space Station. This photograph shows the white, salt-covered floor of the northwest corner of the great dry lake in northern Namibia known as the Etosha Pan (left margin). Two rivers, the Ekuma and Oshigambo, transport water from the north down to the Etosha Pan proper. In a relatively rare event, water from recent rains has flowed down the larger Ekuma River—in which it appears as a thin blue line within the generally light grey-green floodplain—and fills a lobe of the lake with light green water (lower right quarter of image). Water has also flowed into a small offshoot dry lake where it appears a brighter green (upper right quarter of image). Other smaller lakes at center and top center show red and brown water colors. The different colors of lake water are determined by the interplay of water depth and resident organisms such as algae; the algae color varies depending on water temperature and salinity. A similar process is observed in pink and red floodwaters ponded in Lake Eyre, a usually dry lake in Australia's arid center. In this case it is known that the coloration is indeed due to algae growth. Typically, little river water or sediment reaches the floor of the Etosha dry lake because water seeps into the riverbeds along their courses. The floor of the pan itself is seldom seen with even a thin sheet of water. In this image, there was enough surface flow to reach the pan, but too little to flow beyond the inlet bay. A prior flood event, when water entered the pan via the Oshigambo River, was documented in astronaut imagery in 2006. The straight line that crosses the image from top center to bottom is the northern fence line of Namibia's Etosha National Park. This straight, three-meter-high fence keeps wildlife from crossing into the numerous small farms of the relatively densely populated Owambo region of Namibia, north of the pan. The large Etosha dry lakebed (120 kilometers or 75 miles long) is the center of Namibia's largest wildlife park, a major tourist attraction.

Great Sand Sea, Egypt (NASA, International Space Station, 05/11/12)
earth image
Image by NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center
Linear dunes in the Great Sand Sea in southwest Egypt are featured in this image photographed by an Expedition 31 crew member on the International Space Station. In southwestern Egypt, deep in the Sahara Desert, the action of wind dominates landscapes today much as it has done for the past several thousand years. Winds blowing from the north have fashioned sands into large dunes, aligned parallel with these winds. The so-called linear dunes - shown here in the Great Sand Sea - are easily seen from space and local maps show that they rise 20--30 meters above the surrounding flat plains. The distance between individual linear dunes is interestingly regular, at 1.5--2.5 kilometers, suggesting some equilibrium exists between the formative wind strength and the sand supply. It is possible that linear dunes may relate to earlier times when winds were stronger than they are today, or sand more plentiful. The dark patch of rock outcrop at upper right sticks up above the surface on which the dunes lie by as much as 150 meters. The north winds have been deflected around this high zone, and smaller secondary linear dunes can be seen along the right side of the image, aligned with local winds that become ever more northeasterly with nearness to the outcrops. A dune-free zone on the protected downwind (south-southeast) side of the outcrop gives a sense of the sand movement (generally from the bottom of the image towards the top). At first glance, the large linear dunes appear to be the major landform in the image; however a complex pattern of even smaller dunes can be seen perched on top of the largest dunes (inset). The sand that comprises many dune fields usually, according to scientists, derives from some larger river not very distant upwind, supplied from the dry river bed (exposed to the wind during dry seasons of low river flow, or regional change to a more arid climate). Inland dune fields thus lie downwind of the source river. A large, unnamed river once flowed to the Mediterranean Sea situated west of the dunes shown in this picture, dumping its sand load 300 kilometers northwest of the area shown. It is likely that this river, the evidence of which is now almost completely obliterated, was the source of the sand in the linear dunes, the scientists say.

Marin 365| Day 19 Images; Apple Rainbow Plane, by 7 year old

Morning started with my son building a "Rainbow Apple Airplane" on Lego Digital Designer... The green decorations are apples, with leaves. This was made using a free computer software program you can download from Lego.com. He designed this from scratch. Some people just have engineering brains... I could never make this out of Legos, even though I am an artist. I have a hard time drawing from memory, but I am better at copying what I see. I'm always amazed by people who can draw or create from scratch, with out a model.

Very rainy morning.. puddles, ball caught in a storm drain, drove by my favorite old colorful garage, and then the sun came out for about 5 minutes between storms and I snapped a shot of the clouds. Now, back to work...

Update: Cheating my 365 Project... I am adding this to the 365 Gallery as "Day 20" for now... I may have a chance to take a photo later today, but this is a really busy, stormy Wednesday.

Shane Warne aka 'The Spin King', continues to race ahead of the pack and reinvent himself, be it on Australian or European soil.

He's endorsed video and audio companies, online poker, and now toys (no, not dolls), cars... Hot Wheels cars from Mattel to be exact.

Today he appeared at a press conference in Surry Hills, Sydney, to tell us all about what he sees in Hot Wheels.

On the surface Warne looks to be a pretty good match. He loves his cars (owning a number of real sports cars in his private collection), is known for his fast women (now just one - lucky Liz), who has him in good shape thanks to the "Liz Effect", as Warnie puts it, and who knows what else is in the pipeline. Young men around the world may do well to note that Mr Warne has settled down now with the one lovely lady now and that commitment to the one lass can be a very good thing.

A couple of whispers overheard at today's presser went something like "Doesn't Mattel also do Barbie and Ken dolls (TM)." For the record there was nothing on Ken or Barbie.

The Hot Wheels 'Spin King' has supposed to be a bit of a secret, but we suspect that was all part of the media and marketing plan. You know, make something a secret, so it gets written and talked about. If that's the case, Mattel and Team Warnie have done their jobs well. Warne is understood to have "collaborated" with Mattel's Hot Wheels for about 6 months, and the financial terms of the deal are not being released, at least at this stage. It must be good, since Warne and his management are used to cranking deals with online poker brands and the like, and those don't come cheap.

'The Spin King' signature range designed by Australian sports stars sure looks hot (if your into toy cars).

This is not the virgin car deal for Mr Warne. Last year Warnie was named Lamborghini's Australian ambassador and gifted a 0,000 Murcielago as a "long-term loan car", and a couple of Lambos' were seen racing around East Sydney earlier today, so perhaps he was driving one of them. You can bet Warnie and Liz's kids are doing to have a ball of a time playing with all the toys they will be gifted by Mattel and Hot Wheels.

Warnie's press statements included something along the lines of "I've always has a passion for cars. I used to play with Hot Wheels cars as a kid, so when they offered me the chance to design my own, I jumped at it". Containing his excitement he also shared "I loved every minute of the design process and working with the team at hot Wheels was great fun. The 'Spin King' is a fusion between all of my favorite fast cars and its been great seeing my vision come to life". To Australian press (and public) he had an equally important message: "When Liz and I settle down in Melbourne please respect our privacy and don't throw rocks at our place at 2am in the morning. I've told Liz Melbourne is beautiful".

It was a hot looking brochure and media kit, but sadly no Hot Wheels car in the pack, but Christmas is coming, so here's hoping.

Thanks for the great photos Warnie. Sydney is the quick and the dead, and we did our best, so we're hoping you like them.

Verdict: Shane Warne and Mattel's Hot Wheels gets the green light. They are to hit stores in March 2012, and we're told they are worth the wait. Catch them if you can.

UPDATE by Lanetra Bennett: Tallahassee, Florida- December 13, 2011 - 6:42 P.M

A group called the Red Dawg Order is believed to have been behind a hazing incident that landed an 18-year-old in the hospital and three FAMU Marching 100 members in jail.

FAMU senior Joel McGuire says he was in the Marching 100 in 2008. He says while he never had any problems, he's not too surprised that three band members were arrested for hazing Monday.

"I didn't experience any type of hazing physically or mentally," McGuire says. "It's all about accountability. Somebody should be held accountable. That's the only way things are going to change."

Tallahassee Police say Sean Hobson, Aaron Golson, and James Harris beat 18-year-old band mate Bria Hunter so severely that she had blood clots in her legs, deep bone bruising and a cracked femur.

Our cameras were rolling when two of the three men were released on bond Tuesday.

Officers say the students are members of Red Dawg Order, which is a subgroup formed by students for band members who are from Georgia.

McGuire says there are several organizations, or "regional frats" within the band.

Red Dawg Order is even a registered incorporated company and has spread nationwide to colleges with large marching bands.

Joel says, "It's not anything that you have to do, they don't try to like put pressure on you, like oh you have to join this organization if your from this, or you have to join this organization if you're from that. Its all a choice."

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tallahassee, Florida - December 13, 2011 - Noon -

Tallahassee police said the three men arrested were involved in hazing Hunter at an off-campus apartment because she tried to get out of a meeting and couldn't recite information about their clique of Georgia natives, known as the "Red Dawg Order."

Authorities said James Harris, 22, helped plan the hazing at his apartment and, at one point, he stopped the other two men from hitting Hunter further. He has been charged with hazing and his bond was set at ,500.

Harris' attorney, Eric Abrahamsen, insisted there was no evidence his client took part in the hazing and that he would fight the charges.

Sean Hobson, 23, and 19-year-old Aaron Golson, were charged with hazing and battery, and their bail was set at ,000. An attorney for Golson said he would also plead not guilty. Golson was released from jail and ducked into a car driven by his mother. He refused to answer any questions.

Hobson did not yet have an attorney.

Authorities said Hunter was targeted Oct. 31 by other members of the "Red Dawg Order" because she tried to get out of going to a group meeting. She was repeatedly punched on the tops of her thighs by Golson and Hobson, witnesses told police.

The following day, police said, Hunter was beaten with a metal ruler when she could not recite information about the "Red Dawg Order" properly.

Police said Hobson sent Hunter a text message Nov. 5 to say he was sorry.

"I apologize for the hurt I put you through. I apologize for the mental and physical strain you have endured," Hobson said in the message, according to police.

When authorities interviewed him, Hobson acknowledged he was a member of the "Red Dawg Order" but denied harming Hunter or sending her a text message.

Attorney Craig Brown, who is representing Golson, told the judge his client was a good student and should be released without bond because he was cooperating with police. Leon County Judge Ronald Flurry, however, required Golson to post a bond. The judge said if the charges were true, they were "egregious."

After the hearing, Brown said there was a "difference in the stories" of what actually took place.

Ricky Jones, director of the Center on Race and Inequality at the University of Louisville and an expert on hazing, said he had not heard of a case where a female had been beaten by males.

"This doesn't mean it's a first," he said. Since the band and its various groups admit men and women, mixed gender hazing might not be uncommon, Jones said.

Champion's death exposed a hazing tradition that has long haunted the university. Former clarinet player Ivery Luckey was hospitalized after he said he was paddled around 300 times in 1998. Luckey told Tallahassee police that it was mostly girls who hit him in an initiation to become part of "The Clones."

Three years later, band member Marcus Parker suffered kidney damage because of a paddle beating.

After Champion died, the university indefinitely suspended performances by the famed Marching 100. School president James Ammons has vowed to break what he calls a "code of silence" on the hazing rituals.

Last week, the board of trustees reprimanded Ammons over his job performance, including how the university has dealt with hazing. The panel that oversees the state university system has also called for a probe into whether school officials ignored past warnings about hazing.

"The board of trustees and president Ammons hope that through these arrests all involved in perpetuating this culture will really begin to view hazing as a serious matter," said university spokeswoman Sharon Saunders.

The school fired band director Julian White, who contends he tried to report problems with hazing to his superiors. He was reinstated and placed on administrative leave because the Florida Department of Law Enforcement asked the university to halt all disciplinary actions until the investigation is finished. Four students connected to Champion's death were expelled, but then also reinstated.

Tallahassee, Florida - December 13, 2011 - Noon -

The group that police say Bria Hunter was participating in was started in Tallahassee. Reports show that the Red Dawg Order originated with the Marching 100.

This organization was founded on December 18, 1994 in Tallahassee. A website says the basis for the organization is to establish unity, sisterhood and brotherhood for band members from Georgia at many different colleges.

Red Dawg Order originated at Florida A&M University and spread from there.

I'm a member of Red Dawg Order Inc. I wanted to say that the action of these three member no way shape or form reflect the organization as a whole. I myself was shacked by the events that took place. RDO is a wonderful organization its an extension of my family.

"On a wide range of acidic substrata including bark, wood, siliceous rocks, walls decaying plant debris, peaty soils and rubberized materials; formerly the commonest lichen on trees throughout lowland England and Scotland where air pollution restricted the occurrence of other species, becoming rarer now ... also near sulphur springs in Iceland." - Smith et al. (2009) The Lichens of Great Britain and Ireland

"It is probably an introduced species whose natural habitat , near sulphur springs in Iceland, preadapted it for a rapid invasion of coal and oil-burlning areas." - Oliver Gilbert (2000) "Lichens"

"Lizard Point is a sordid place. A row of little shacks extends from the village to the sea... Some have Lecanora conizaeoides growing on them, which just about sums the place up." - Oliver Gilbert (2004) "The Lichen Hunters"

Using the Kinect and OpenNI's user-tracking and RGB to depth alignment to remove the background from a live image. Here I replaced it with a photo I took from the top of the Empire State Building.

Imagine if the camera image of me was DSLR quality (which is totally possible right now via external camera alignment), the matte edges were cleaned up with a little bit of blur, and the lighting matched.

I Am The Walrus Lyrics
I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
See how they run like pigs from a gun, see how they fly.
I'm crying.

Sitting on a cornflake, waiting for the van to come.
Corporation tee-shirt, stupid bloody Tuesday.
Man, you been a naughty boy, you let your face grow long.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.

Mister City Policeman sitting
Pretty little policemen in a row.
See how they fly like Lucy in the Sky, see how they run.
I'm crying, I'm crying.
I'm crying, I'm crying.

Yellow matter custard, dripping from a dead dog's eye.
Crabalocker fishwife, pornographic priestess,
Boy, you been a naughty girl you let your knickers down.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob.
Sitting in an English garden waiting for the sun.
If the sun don't come, you get a tan
From standing in the English rain.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob.

Expert textpert choking smokers,
Don't you thing the joker laughs at you?
See how they smile like pigs in a sty,
See how they snied.
I'm crying.

Semolina pilchard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower.
Elementary penguin singing Hari Krishna.
Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe.
I am the eggman, they are the eggmen.
I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob.
Goo goo g'joob g'goo goo g'joob g'goo.
