The library of congress offers a multitude of historical images online, many needing no license to redistribute. The original image depicts fire fighters on duty. The 1902 image, by William H. Rau, has no known restrictions on publication. Library of Congress reproduction number: LC-USZ62-95628

The National Library of New Zealand in Wellington, New Zealand offers a multitude of historical images in the Flickr commons. The original image of Group in the garden of William and Lydia Williams, Carlyle Street, Napier is from the Alexander Turnbull library photographic archive. The circa 1880 image by William Williams, Reference number: 1/1-025684-G, has no known restrictions on publication.
