The library of congress offers a multitude of historical images online, many needing no license to redistribute. The original image of a man holding large camera photographing a cataclysmic event, possibly a volcano erupting is from an Underwood & Underwood negative. Unlike the stereograph, the circa 1908 image lacks descriptive text to pinpoint the subject. However this timeline indicates mount Baker and mount Hood in the North American Cascade range were active at this time. The image has no known restrictions on publication.
