Taken at the Elephant Nature Park outside of Chiang Mai, Thailand, in October 2007. "Ele" was born in the jungle. Her mom was (is) a trekking elephant. When she was born she rolled down the side of a hill and was left without her mother for hours until her mother's mahoot found mom and baby. They were immediately taken to Elephant Nature Park, a safe haven for elephants in Thailand, where Ele was cared for by volunteers around the clock - feeding her, helping her walk, and swatting away flies. In this picture, Ele is being greeted by her grandmother, who happens to be a permanent resident at the park.

What bizarre little things babies are. I mean, really, what's going on in their heads?

Visiting a friend in Falmouth and his host mom asked if I'd take a few pictures of their son. So I did. Just bizarre, funny little things.

This was a better shot of the baby penguins. I think they said they were already about 2 years old and would be fluffy for another year or so yet.

Baby Birds

Outside my front door, on top of the porch light, there is a bird nest. Every year, the birds make a nest there, which I assume is because it is covered and protected for the most part. That, and it’s sort of hidden from other birds, which I assume can’t hurt. I took one picture last year, and it sucked. I planned to grab one this year, and until last night, I just didn’t do it. Well, around 10pm last night, I decided to try.

There were taken with the 30D, EF-S 10-22, and a dedicated flash, which was bounced above me. The photos aren’t great, but I like them, so I thought I would share…

This started out as a little doodle of a face and then i kept drawing and it ended up as this huge bald baby and the baby eater is in the cave ;-) i added little details to the picture over time i had just drawn the left side and the big bald baby in the middle and left it for ages and decided to finish it recently.

this is my fabulous baby cousin, cole. he is six months old, and a total ham. i haven't seen him in awhile, and i wanted to get some pictures of him with betsy, so i dropped by the cousin's house this afternoon to hang out and snap some pictures.

i took a ton, and it was so hard to decide on my favorites. but these four were my top for seeing him on the chair. for about 2 minutes [and i only know the exact time because i just looked up what time was listed on the memory card, haha], cole sat on this chair without moving all around or falling off. he bumped his head a bit, and gave a little fake cry, as you can see in the fourth picture.
