Grand Central on a Rainy Night During the Holidays

I started www.hdrspotting.com/ (and see the Editor's Picks too) with a friend to help bring more attention to other HDR photographers out there. We developed a cutting-edge "attention generation engine", designed to increase traffic for new and old artists all over the world. The site is still in beta, and thus, invite only. You have to know someone to get an invite (don't ask me - I don't hand them out). But you can pick up extra in the HDR group on Facebook, Flickr, and keep searching Twitter for when people have extras to give away.

Here is a testimonial from Brian Matiash:
I was first drawn to HDR Spotting because of the high quality HDR images that were shared by some very talented photographers. Since then, posting my best HDR images to HDR Spotting has become a natural part of my post-processing workflow. When a shot is finalized and ready to share, one of its first stops is at HDR Spotting. Now, most of my images average at least 1,500 views and my Editor's Choice shots average between 7,000 - 8,500 extra views!! I really am loving this added visibility to my work. Great job with the site, keep up the great work!

Daily Photo - Grand Central on a Rainy Night During the Holidays

I took this about the same time I went into Grand Central Station and performed my unique star-pattern maneuver to evade security guards. I described it in detail the next day when I spoke at B&H.

I've perfected a panoply of techniques to circumnavigate and befuddle security guards who don't like tripods. Maybe I will write a little e-book on this some day.

It seems I had been tagged a week or two back I had originally said I would never participate in the tagging but as I was asked nicely and the person who tagged be apologized after she tagged me I decided to do a list. Ten things most of you don't know about me hmmmmm ! Anyone else tags me I will hunt you down and sing to you for four hours straight and believe I can't carry a tune even in a bucket !!!!!

1: I am a two time cancer survivor, and when I hear of people undergoing chemo it becomes very personal to me whether I know them or not !

2: My best friend, who is also my photography companion, also happens to be my wonderful wife Ann

3: Further to number two we will be renewing our vows on Aug 29th, our anniversary, this Saturday. (I did give her a chance to run, but she refused)

4: I am as avid a fly tier, as I am a photographer, and I do fish with the flies I tie
catch and release only

5: I was a police officer (Military)

6: A car accident ended my Military Career and put me in the hospial for ten months, almost like Evel Knievel have had just about every bone in my body broken. Now everyone knows why I walk funny I really am not drunk !

7: I really enjoy my evening drink of wine or maybe a Brandy or Appleton Estate 21 year Old Rum

8: I am an environmentalist is every sense of the word.

9: I am a blueberry addict, love them however I can get them and I eat them everyday in one way or another

10: Lastly I am an adrenalin junky, have done a bungee jump, sky diving, hang gliding and para gliding, too old for most of this now but plan to do a solo sky dive on my 65th birthday.

Asar Mahal, Bijapur

The Asar Mahal was built by Mohammed Adil Shah in about 1646, which was used to serve as a Hall of Justice. The building was also used to house hairs from the Prophet's beard. The rooms on the upper storey are decorated with frescoes and the front is graced with a square tank. Here women are not allowed inside. Every year there is urs (festival) held at this place. In front of the hall, one can see three tanks the bigger tank, which is at the center is about 15 feet (4.6 m) deep however the other two are comparatively smaller in size as well as depth. Behind Asar Mahal one can still see the remain of the citadel. Just a kilometer away behind Asar Mahal, one can still find the old mosque which is on top of the citadel wall. There is a big entrance with arc below this mosque. Many stones have inscriptions. The site is under maintenance of Archeological Survey of India.

With rays of sunshine and the thin blue atmosphere of Earth serving as a backdrop, the SpaceX Dragon commercial cargo craft is berthed to the Earth-facing side of the International Space Station's Harmony node. Expedition 31 Flight Engineers Don Pettit and Andre Kuipers grappled Dragon at 9:56 a.m. (EDT) with the Canadarm2 robotic arm and used it to berth Dragon to the at 12:02 p.m. May 25, 2012. Dragon became the first commercially developed space vehicle to be launched to the station to join Russian, European and Japanese resupply craft that service the complex while restoring a U.S. capability to deliver cargo to the orbital laboratory. Dragon is scheduled to spend about a week docked with the station before returning to Earth on May 31 for retrieval

Hurricane Sandy Viewed in the Dark of Night

A few nice earth image images I found:

Hurricane Sandy Viewed in the Dark of Night
earth image
Image by NASA Goddard Photo and Video
NASA image acquired October 28, 2012

For the latest info from NASA on Hurricane Sandy go to: 1.usa.gov/Ti5SgS

This image of Hurricane Sandy was acquired by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) on the Suomi NPP satellite around 2:42 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time (06:42 Universal Time) on October 28, 2012.
The storm was captured by a special “day-night band,” which detects light in a range of wavelengths from green to near-infrared and uses filtering techniques to observe dim signals such as auroras, airglow, gas flares, city lights, and reflected moonlight. In this case, the cloud tops were lit by the nearly full Moon (full occurs on October 29). Some city lights in Florida and Georgia are also visible amidst the clouds.
The Suomi NPP satellite was launched one year ago today (on October 28, 2011) to extend and enhance long-term records of key environmental data monitored by NASA, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Last night in Madrid

A few nice photo effects images I found:

Last night in Madrid
photo effects
This was taken the last night I was in Madrid. My friends decided to visit a gallery, but I preferred a place where I could take photos. This was again a scene like created for a HDR. The whole bottom part is very light, with the building and the base of the statue very bright. On the other side, the sky was dark, and the statue has no lights pointing to it. But with HDR I got both.

If you are interested in seeing the comparison between original shot and final hdr, check out this post on my blog blog.hdrshooter.net/2012/02/27/last-night-in-madrid/
