KTVU & Wharholian story

warholian.com/?p=1632

From the Warholian story

"Fear mongering, simply intensifies the likelihood of violence. If people are made to feel that they are in eminent danger or threatened, there is a fight or flight response. Based on that principle you are guaranteed a percentage of the responses are going to be violent.” says Colla.

Colla wants to be clear, he does not blame Sarah Palin for the Arizona shootings- what he blames is her vitriolic rhetoric that have become her character trademark.

“Whether or not Palin influenced Jared Lee Loughner, is rather beside the point. Her actions and her language have been consistently hyperbolic, manipulative and irresponsible. Palin gives speeches and the crowd tends to react to the tough-talk and rhetoric, so that’s what she continues doing it… That behavior is typical of people who participate in pageantry, but that’s not leadership. In light of the past weeks events it might be a good opportunity to examine what is effective or appropriate rhetoric and what we as a society deem unacceptable.”

expert: JayDixon - 4/24/2009
Question
Jim Morrison and the Doors played at the Underground Cavern, on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village, New York, on May 8, 1966. Who shared the bill with the Doors. I maintain it was Bill Meers and the Rockers and the Nifty Nick Band. I've seen some reproduction posters that say it was the Jefferson Airplane. Who actually shared the bill?

Answer
Larry,
Doubt I can help you much on this one as I am unable to source any info on this.
Jefferson Airplane (they toured Europe together)did a heck of a lot of stuff with The Doors and may well have supported at that Underground gig.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
Cheers
Jay Dixon

MY OPINION:
Both two versions of the poster are faked (probably by a fanatic 'Rolling Stones' to split up 'the doors'). Until now I discovered four reasons for this truth:
1st: August 4th, 1966 fell on a Thursday, and not on a Friday, as the above poster is stating.
2nd: My french friend 'ship of fools' has the 4th August 1966 in his 'chronologie':
1966: Jeudi 4 Août Concert Whisky a Go Go West Hollywood.
1966, Mon. Aug. 1 - Thu. 4: Whisky A Go Go - the doors, the Rolling Stones & David Crosby.
During this time the Rolling stones are in town for a recording session and stop by to hear The Doors. They are reportedly not very impressed. Also around this time, Jim gets into it with David Crosby who is performing with The Byrds. On the night of Lenny Bruce's death Crosby stops by to hear some music wearing shades throughout the evening. Jim while performing shouts to Crosby that he can't hide behind his sunglasses and an argument ensues. Also performing: Johny Rivers; The Chambers Brothers.
3rd: We didn't start out with such big ideas. We thought we were going to be just another pop group, but then something happened when we recorded 'The End'. We saw that what we were doing was more important than just a hit song. We were writing serious music and performing it in a very dramatic way. 'The End' is like going to see a movie when you already know the plot. It's a timeless piece of material... It was then that we realized we were different from other groups. We were playing music that would last for years, not weeks. JDM
4th: There was never a place called the "Underground Cavern" on Bleecker Street in the Village. I grew up there, around then, and NOPE. Also, had the ROLLING STONES at the height of their popularity played anywhere it would have been an ARENA. Or there would have been a RIOT. angel6356

An old political poster - when it was marginal
photo to poster
An old political poster found on the same wall as the cinema posters, but this does not belong to the "mini museum" project, I believe. Until 1990 or so, Yurakucho area was a sort of "Speakers Corner" for nationalists, and that is why this area has so many posters like this.

I particularly find this poster weird. The message is "Ammend the Article No 9 of the Constitution, for Japan to be a real independent state." You know now it's on the agenda of our government (Shinzo Abe's government), very officially. At the national diet, debates are going on - I don't know if we really can call it "debates". Something that used to be very marginal is now very official.

* I am in no way related to them or their political agenda. This is only photography.

12-01-10 Nothing special today. Well nothing special to you, its pretty special to me! I was heading down to Jacobs in Sheffield City centre when I passed by The Plug box office and spotted this poster in the window. That's my band! Woo! We have a gig coming up on the 19th of March and we are on the posters! Yay! Its always nice to see your name in lights. Anyway I thought I would snap a quick shot and use it as my photo for today. I fixed the perspective of the shot using PTLens a very powerful tool for fixing lens distortion and perspectives. Then just fixed curves and levels in Lightroom.

Manual Page Read: page 79 - Using the flash. After last night's comedy diffuser I thought I would brush up a little.

Images Viewed: So nearly made it to that Robert Mapplethorpe exhibition but didn't! Epic fail on my behalf. Instead I had a look at some of the other 365ers on flickr. These two stood out.

Other Inspiration: I had an exam today in "Data Storage". It was just a phase test worth 30% of the module but I got a respectable 73%. I am happy with that, still on course for a First (crosses fingers).

On Twitter.

Poster: Sustainability
photo to poster
Poster series designed by Jolanda-Pieta van Arnhem, then student Marcello Garofalo (Ai Charleston), and myself.

This series was designed as part of a collaborative community art project focusing on active individual involvement with environmental concerns in Charleston, SC. The posters were used to help viewers interact with Bryant Holsenbeck's Mandala installation at the College of Charleston Addlestone Library on Friday, October 22, 2010. Each poster contains a QR code linking to further environmental resources on participants' own websites, accessible by code reader apps on viewers' phones and mobile devices.

It was a fun collaboration. Jolanda was a big part of creating and coordinating all these interconnected events.

I have taken about 6 other pictures today, in an effort to capture the day. And get this: the other ones were BORING. Yeah, so that says a lot about a photo of a poster in a frame with no glass and an uneven border.

But if I just keep telling myself: "Don't Panic", over and over and over and over and over again, then it'll be funnier when I panic.

But it's only improbable.

(Also, totally not choosing this because of the whole France thing. It's allowed to be about more than two things, dammit.)

ALSO ALSO: I like this frame. It's super old. It was in my gran's house.
