Another upload of some of the photos I've been taking over the past couple of months.

Things have settled down a little now. My father's house is on the market and we're looking at moving him to a more appropriate home for his needs. Meanwhile I'm starting to get organised for university in October. The trouble now is that I have a mountain of photos to edit and upload. Luckily I don't have much time to take any at the moment!

Thanks everyone for your continued support and lovely comments. I'm definitely on my way back!

Just uploading some pictures of my gear, for my profile page, that I was supposed to do a long time ago :P

This is a Fed 5v rangefinder, with Industar-61L/D (LTM, or M39 mount) lens, f2.8/53mm.

Although many call this an ugly camera, I beg to differ. Having probably more years than myself, it still works quite well and it is a funny little camera.

Shot with my D80, in my homemade light tent.

In the Morning Mist

I originally uploaded a somewhat different version of this image, shot on Madison's Lake Wingra, more than a year ago. I've always been fond of it, but memory played a trick on me -- I came to think it was one of those images I used to upload to Flickr that I had severely cropped out of a 2-megapixel file, and that the image was thus essentially unprintable in anything but wallet size. I revisited it last night when I was looking for some more benign photos of water in Wisconsin than those that have dominated the headlines and my photostream lately. Turns out it was a full, uncropped 2-mp photograph, and that I should be able to get a decent small print. I reprocessed it with that end in mind, also cropping some foreground and a bit of sky to get a 2:3 aspect ratio, which seemed better suited to the composition, but leaving the full 1600-pixel horizontal resolution of the original file. I thought it might work well on watercolor paper. We'll see.

After uploading that series of pitifully cold pictures, I wanted to post something that warmed my bones. Ahhhhh. Much better.

I uploaded a photo a while back showing of my new Nikon Arsenal. Unfortunattely the D50 I got then was broken and had to go back. I also didn't really like the D50 for numerous reasons (expect a blog post soon) so instead I got a D80.....

So here is a pic of my new Nikon Arsenal. I also switched the 50mm F1.8 for a 50mm F1.8D (expect a blog post about that too).

Folded and inverted turbidites at Millook Haven, Cornwall

An unusual view of the intensely folded turbidite sequence in the Crackington Formation (upper Carboniferous) at Millook Haven, north Cornwall.
The northward-dipping limbs of the folds e.g. the striped sequence in the lower left quadrant are the inverted (upside-down) limbs.

you see, I'm determined to finish this round of the 365days project. I ain't giving this one up, that's for sure.
the thing is with all the work at school, going out with friends, going on mini-vacations and being with keoshi I don't find enough time to upload. It sucks. But as I said. No giving up. I'll keep this going. Maybe it gets better. =)

Having said that, here's another batch of photos! yay!

I uploaded the best shot of 969 panning shots about a year ago.
www.flickr.com/photos/htakashi/5253245714/
Now here is the 2nd best of them. This is the original image, no cropping and no post processing is done.
I haven't take a panning of birds for a while. I feel like I'd like to do that recently.

Allhallows water pumping station, Rousdon, east Devon
upload photos
Originally uploaded for the Guesswhere UK group.

This is the remains of the Allhallows (or Rousdon) water pumping station just east of the Dowlands landslide complex, between Seaton, Devon and Lyme Regis, Dorset. It was steam-driven and used to pump water from the undercliff up to the farms and dwellings on the top of the cliff.

This is located next to the South West Coast Path which runs through the Axmouth to Lyme Regis Undercliff National Nature Reserve, a conservation area of international importance. This is an area of extensive landslides which have created a jumble of ridges and chasms, now the location of luxurious woodland and special habitats for plants, birds, insects and other animals.

The 'undercliff' is the area between the beach and the back landslide scarp face, which may be as much as 700 metres inland.

Late upload, my bad, I'll get onto today's photo after I've written this too. Things just get left til the last minute sometimes don't they? This is a close up of Holly's belated christmas present, I got her an giant angry birds from the iPhone game. It's like a 16" cushion or some other ridiculous size, but she loves it which is the main thing. I had such issue trying to get one, i ordered two and neither arrived so I had to order another after christmas which arrived the same week, typical. I got refunded for the others at least. Have you ever seen a bigger frown?

Also my amazing girlfriend Holly is doing a 100km walk from London to Brighton over 24hrs in aid of Asthma UK. Anything any of you could give to help her and other asthma sufferers out would be incredible. Thanks internet! Click here to sponsor her.

Feel free to follow me on Twitter. You stalker.

Originally uploaded for the Guesswhere UK group.

This is the Henrhyd waterfall at Coelbren near the upper Swansea Valley in South Wales. You can walk behind this waterfall, but you need to ensure you have good waterproofs; the spray goes everywhere, especially when the river is in spate after wet weather (as in the photo).

An old photo, taken with a Zenit E camera; scanned from a Kodacolor 64 negative, hence rather poor quality.
